Los Angeles True Crime Stories at Heritage Square Museum
An immersive experience of True Crime Stories of Los Angeles. Be a part of history!
True Crime Stories of Los Angeles & Ghost Tours
Heritage Square Museum celebrates the spooky season with two history-themed immersive experiences:
True Crime Stories of L.A. + Ghost Tours
Oct. 26 and Oct. 27
LOS ANGELES, 2019  Heritage Square celebrates the season with two events on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27.
Victorian love triangles, a speakeasy turned deadly, a murderous scandal and an historic riot: life in early Los Angeles was anything but quiet!
Experience the backstory of some of Los Angeles most notorious crimes and witness how detectives of the past solved mysteries in an era before DNA testing and high-tech forensics.
True Crime Stories of Los Angeles will present historic characters, crime reenactments and early investigators recreating conventional methods of the day to solve cases and bring perpetrators to justice.
The historical cases will include:
1886: A Victorian love triangle between two sisters, Hattie and Minnie Woolsteen, and the Los Angeles dentist they both desire. The shocking murderous scandal was front page news for months.
1903: The attempted murder of Agnes Mesmer by her husband, local philanthropist and Los Angeles booster Colonel Griffith J. Griffith.
1920s: See how a festive Halloween Speakeasy party turned deadly.
1938: The Harry Raymond Car Bombing is a story of the crooked vs. the crooked.
1942: What were the factors surrounding the Sleepy Lagoon Murder in Commerce that sparked a historic Los Angeles riot?

Additionally, participants will discover how poisons and other typical methods of murder were employed in early Los Angeles crime history.
True Crime Stories of Los Angeles takes place Saturday and Sunday October 26 and 27 from noon until 4pm. Ticket prices: $20 adults, $10 for children 11 years and younger (service fees apply). Purchase through Brown Paper Tickets: http://losangelestruecrime.brownpapertickets.com.
Tickets for True Crime tours may also be purchased at the door.

Want another historical immersive experience?

After the sun goes down, follow a Ghost Tour guide on a small-group exploration of the families who once lived in the houses at Heritage Square. Learn about the family history as well as successes and tragedies in this nighttime walk (wear comfortable shoes and are aware of uneven surfaces). Be prepared for other ghost stories along the pathways.
Ghost Tours are ONLY Saturday October 26 from 6 to 8pm.  Tickets are $45.
