HIPPY PORN

Jon Moritsugu's second feature, HIPPY PORN, is a nu-wave-arthouse-analog-semiotic-freak-out. This is the movie that was a major French cult hit! A trio of angst-dripping, pseudo-intellectual, art school brats wallow in self-pity, narcissism, and extreme ennui. Rock-and-roll, manifestos, shoplifting, and rat hunting collide head-on. HIPPY PORN was completed in 1991 and opened theatrically in the United States, including screenings at the American Film Institute, Pacific Film Archive, and Chicago Film Center. It was picked up for European distribution by Haut et Court and played continuously for 1 1/2 years at the Action Christine Cinema in Paris as part of an American Independents program with GAS FOOD LODING (Alison Anders) and HIGHWAY PATROLMAN (Alex Cox).
