Casey Erdmann & So Brown LIVE in the Pavilion at Rock & Rye
Born into a musical family, Casey has been living and playing music in the Hudson Valley for 10 years. In October of 2012 she started a Kickstarter campaign, raising money to fund her debut album. With the help of Kickstarter, and endless support from local artists and musicians, Casey was able to record her Debut album at the Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY with Producer/world renowned guitarist Earl Slick. This night is all about showcasing the work of a community and celebrating a CD that has been a long time coming.
From out past railway tracks and the forgotten rivers of rural Mobile, Alabama, So Brown has emerged with haunting songs of love, women, nature, and death on the new album Point Legere. So spent five hermetic years song-writing on the peninsula of the same name where her family has lived for four generations. The songs call on an immense pool of influencesfrom the refined classical aesthetic derived from her piano-teacher mother to the ghosts of delta bluesmen like Skip James and Leadbelly. So relocated to Brooklyn, NY in 2009, and enlisted the help of New York's finest musicians- Norah Jones, Adam Levy and many others- to play on her album, recorded by Bryce Goggin (Phish, Pavement). The result is a lush, sensual portrait of an artist and a place hitherto hidden from the modern world, and a bold, new voice in the world of country and blues.
