Performance & Open Studios: MV Carbon, Ganjatronics
Join us for a performance showcase in this months Open House, Open Studios with performances from MV Carbon and Ganjatronics alongside the opportunity to listen to new material from Brooklyn based band People Get Ready. This unique event and peek into The Clocktower Gallery is the last time that MV Carbon and Borden Capalino will be displayed and the final day of residency for People Get Ready. The evening promises a surreal and interactive experience showcasing works both sculptural and audiovisual. In our main gallery the long-term exhibition Jene Highstein Early Works will be on show featuring our capacious recreation of Black Mound for Suzi.

Brooklyn-based People Get Ready are known for creating unique performance experiences or multi-sensory mixtapes that are a "melding of independent music and contemporary dance" (New York Times). They have a distinct ability to re-define what a band is, to blur boundaries, and to forge continuing creative bonds with the formidable list of artists whose paths they've crossed.

MV Carbon's Beyond the Dimensional Slope is a reactive environment that incorporates video, sound and hand made objects. Carbon will test the physical qualities of the space and install the receptive objects. Carbon is a Brooklyn based interdisciplinary artist and composer who is recognized for her autonomous approach to music and performance. She uses magnetic tape, sculptural sound objects, field recordings, hand-built circuitry, projection, and reactive mediums in her performances and installations. Experiential situations are a significant component to her work as she embraces the immediacy of the situation at hand.

Ganjatronics is the two man project of of Doron Sadja and Justin Craun, who work to create beat-infused electronic soundscapes both danceable and addicting. Doron Sadja outside of Ganjatronics works as a multimedia artist combining dense noise, and computer-enhanced acoustic instruments to create post-human sonic architecture. Justin Craun's visual arts work fuses color and almost amorphous figures to convey impossible realities. Their work together as Ganjatronics has seen the creation of multiple EP works.

Borden Capalino's Ballyjamesduff consists of three tracts of production; Knock-offs of the iconic Alexander McQueen Armadillo shoe, WW2 style foxhole radios, Ceramic portraits commission via the Casual Encounters section of Craigslist. His work has been described as akin to forensic surrealism. It deals with materiality, repurposing, retrofitting, and ultimately the life of objects. Capalino is a visual artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. His 2013 exhibition activities include appearances at at Frieze NY, Derek Eller Gallery, and Eli Ping Gallery. Capalino is represented by Ramiken Crucible.
