Handel:Dettingen Te Deum
In 1743, George Fredrick Handel honored the Hanoverian and Royal patron George II with the Dettingen Te Deum Hndel's final large scale piece for the church celebrates the Pragmatic Allies' (Hanover, Austria, and Britain) victory over the French at the batt;e of Dettingen during theWar of Austrian Succession. Dettingen also marked the last time an English Monarch led troops into battle, giving Handel extra reasons to mark the occasion with a glorious work for chours and orchestra.
