The Choral Project presents Art of Sound::Oceans of Song
The centerpiece will be the Northern California premiere of "The Ocean Between Us" by rising star composer Matthew Lyon Hazzard, for choir, piano, strings, and tuned wine glasses. Three additional premieres include a newly adapted setting of Daniel Hughess powerful song Refugees, set to a thought-provoking text that addresses the plight of those who seek refuge from poverty-stricken countries; a Celtic-inflected piece entitled In the Freshness of the Morning by Kerry Lewis; and the winning entry in the 2019-20 Rachel Moore Student Composition Contest. Rounding out the program are pieces by Renaissance composer Orlando di Lasso to contemporary South African composer Lebo M, including musical jewels by Jake Runestad, René Clausen, and Andrea Ramsey.
