THE BALL
Year Three! The 2019 Yule Ball is getting an upgrade and moving to the Melody Event Center's Grand Ballroom. This historic ballroom features 5,600 square feet of hardwood floors for dancing and a soaring 30 foot ceiling. The entire space is fully accessible via elevator. The new venue also gives us a little more dancing time, so the Ball won't end until the stroke of midnight!
AND, the Melody Event Center offers a limited amount of free parking, on a first-come basis.
This year, we'll also be bringing you more ballroom music, magical entertainment, and an improved photo area to capture your Yule Ball memories. There will be a minimum of four bars, serving a new selection of magical cocktails to keep you feeling light on your feet on the dance floor.
After all, the Yule Ball is, first and foremost, a dance! Gryffindor DJ Switch will be playing all the best wizarding and nerd music to keep you moving.
Muggle street attire is strongly discouraged. Dress robes, formal wear, costumes, flowered nightdresses and any other wizarding clothing are welcome. Guests wearing muggle street clothes maybe subject to transfiguration.
PDXpelliarmus welcomes ALL magical people to the Yule Ball, regardless of race, religion, sexuality, or gender expression! We will do our very best to conjure up a space where everyone feels safe and comfortable being your best and truest self.
THE FEAST - Doors at 5:30
We will be offering two Feast options this year, the Champions' Feast and the Vanishing Feast. Both include early entrance into the Ball, a multi-course feast (Vegan & gluten free options will be available, but we cannot accommodate all allergies.), magical swag, including raffle tickets, and access to the Champions' Common Room! Depending on the success of this campaign and the alignment of Mars, we may be offering other benefits to Feast ticket holders in the future.
The primary difference between the two options is that the Champions' tables will remain in the ballroom for the evening, and the Vanishing tables will be...well...vanishing. At the end of the Feast but before the doors are opened to general admission, the Vanishing tables will be cleared to make room for dancing.
When buying tickets to either Feast you will be selecting your own table. This will allow parties to sit together more easily and there will be entire tables available for purchase for the Feast. Whether you want to dine at The Hog's Head, Azkaban, or in the Forbidden Forrest, you will have the chance to gather your own personal DA for the evening. Get the School Champion treatment, all without having to navigate a malevolent hedge maze or endure a photo shoot with Rita Skeeter!
THE VERY MAGICAL PERSON TICKET - Doors at 7:30
We understand that not all everyone can attend the Feast, but many might still want that Champion treatment, so for those guests, we're offering the VMP Ticket. Our VMPs will have everything a general admission ticket has, plus special access to the Champions' Common Room and the Champions' Bar AND an express lane entrance to the Ball. Spend less time in line and more time dancing!
WHO ARE WE?
The Harry Potter Alliance is an international nonprofit that has promoted literacy, equality, and human rights since 2005. PDXpelliarmus is the Portland Chapter of the HPA, and we do our part by supporting local organizations that are working to make our community a better place through drives and fundraisers, as well as encouraging activism and civic engagement.
This year's Yule Ball proceeds will be donated to KIND - Kids In Need of Defense, a nonprofit which provides legal advocacy and support to immigrant children.
