Socks From Tubes Class and KAL
We have a circular sock machine. We turn sock yarn into sock sized tubes, and then knitters add the afterthought heels, toes, and cuffs. In other words, we do all the monotonous work and leave the the fun parts to your knitters.
ABOUT OUR CLASS We thoroughly explain the anatomy of a sock We help students measure their feet and figure out where the heel will be appropriately placed on the sock tube for a sock that will fit. We make sure they understand placing the heel. Because cutting a knitted tube is nerve wracking for some, we provide a five inch sample tube for students to practice on. There is time in class to start a heel on both the practice tube and the sock tube, so students leave feeling confident.
WHAT STUDENTS GET WHEN THEY SIGN UP FOR OUR CLASS It's very important to us that all students have everything they need to be successful. Every student will receive: * A 5 inch practice tube they will use to learn how to and to practice picking up stitches for the afterthought heel and yarn for knitting an afterthought heel on the practice tube. * A sock tube worked on our 60-stitch or 72-stitch cylinder. We know feet come in many sizes, and so do our tubes. * A detailed pattern with photo tutorials to knit socks from a sock tube. * A resource page with references to stretchy binds offs, kitchener stitch, and other useful sock related information. The only thing students will need to bring to class is needles ( US Size 1- 2, two circulars, magic loop or DPNs). Skills needed for the class include K2tog, SSK, and knitting in the round.
