Taking care of YOU is incredibly sexy!!! This gentle, restorative class is great for improving flexibility, posture, and balance, managing pain and performance anxiety, and feeling at ease in your own skin. Drawing on Awareness Through Movement® lessons and meditative techniques, you'll come away feeling confident, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the world. No experience necessary--all are welcome!

About the Instructor:
DR. PEDI BOURGEOIS is a burlesque performer, scholar, and Awareness Through Movement® instructor with an abundance of teaching experience. Known for her comedic, thought-provoking, and sometimes bizarre neo-burlesque acts, Pedi also holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology and wrote her dissertation, in part, on Twin Cities burlesque history and the current revival. She currently teaches in the American Studies and Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Departments at the University of Minnesota, and she has been teaching Awareness Through Movement since 2007.
Pedi blends her knowledge of burlesque performance conventions with a sense of playfulness and possibility. In her classes at The Playful Peacock, she hopes to create a supportive, fun environment in which students can both dream big and make those dreams come to fruition.
THE TWIN CITIES BURLESQUE ACADEMY, Minnesota's first school of its kind was founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise, who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of showpony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds. The Academy offers performance opportunities, bachelorette parties & special events.
