St. Vrain Watershed Bio-Blitz 2019
The St. Vrain Bio-Blitz event is co-lead by St. Vrain Anglers chapter of Trout Unlimited, the City of Longmont, and the Left Hand Watershed Center.
We will be meeting at 8:45 AM at Standstone Park in Lyons (380 Railroad Ave, Lyons CO) and carpooling to the first data collection site (near Button Rock). Our second site will be at La Vern Johnson Park. As a participant you have the chance to collect meaningful data, take a mini watershed tour, and learn from local watershed scientists, land managers, and anglers.
We will wrap up at noon in time for lunch from Modern Market at La Vern Johnson Park. The family-friendly Watershed Days celebration goes from 1-4 PM and will include hands on activities including a watershed model, bug ID station, habitat station, fly casting demonstration, kids/adult watershed art activities and more.
For the bioblitz, please wear clothes you do not mind getting wet and dirty, and bring waders or rubber boots if you have them. We also have a few pairs of waders and boots for volunteers to use. Please also bring a refillable water bottle and sun protection.
Your event host is Left Hand Watershed Center staff member Jessie Olson, jolson@lwog.org, 303-746-7937. Please reach out with any questions.
