Festival - Local Sightings Film Festival 2019: Short Films

Northwest Forum presents Local Sightings: After Dark, with three late-night programs throughout the festival! Kicking off with a program of horrifically comedic short films to eek out some dark laughs!

Nocturia Della Morte
(Ty Huffer, Seattle, WA, 2019, 1 min)

Social media addict suffering from Nocturia receives an unwanted visitor during a midnight bathroom trip.

Tony Eats a Shrimp
(David Wester, Portland, OR, 10 min)

When Tony sits down to enjoy some shrimp, he finds himself in a vexing situation.

Maniac Landscapes
(Matthew Wade, Idaho, 7 min)

Flowers come alive in a house of death.

Most Steps Ever
(Nesib CB Shamah, Seattle, WA, 4 min)

A short film about a hiker, a smartwatch and a maniac with a lawnmower blade.

Rising
(Luca Dipierro, Oregon, 2018, 4 min)

Rising is an animated animated short film/music video for the album Rising. A Requiem for Father Murphy by Father Murphy
(Avant! Records, Ramp Local, 2018). The narrative of Rising is not a straight forward one. Elementary and delicate dynamics between figures are set in motion (the act of seeing, of witnessing, of touching, of giving and being given to) in a series of tableaux pervaded by sentiments of loss and grief, and by the sense of the unexpected. The video is shot in stop motion, using cut-outs and objects made of old book cloth, paper, fabric, wood, stone, feathers, flowers.

The Sound
(Katrina Brede, Seattle, WA, 7 min)

A dysfunctional father and child find the answer to their estrangement comes from somewhere deep.
