Tour de Coop

Join us for the 3rd annual Tour de Coop on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. which is a collaboration between Sonoma Ecology Center and Transition Sonoma. Participants will take a self-guided tour of the homes of chicken owners throughout Sonoma Valley to view their unique chicken coops. Tour de Coop concludes with a community party at Sonoma Garden Park where participants will have the chance to vote for the Cutest Coop of 2013, and enjoy local food and refreshments.

Chicken ranchers from all over Sonoma Valley invite the public to tour their "roosts" and learn about the joys and benefits of keeping chickens. Participants will discover coops that range from rustic to refined. This fun and educational event is family friendly. All Tour de Coop participants will receive a map of participating homes, and a Tour de Coop passport and can tour the coops at their own leisurely pace. Bicycling is strongly encouraged!

All event proceeds benefit Sonoma Garden Park, a working farm, educational campus and model of sustainable agriculture, managed by Sonoma Ecology Center. Sonoma Garden Park was a gift from Pauline Bond, and is located at 19996 Seventh Street East, between MacArthur and Denmark Streets in Sonoma. Sonoma Ecology Center has launched a special campaign called "It Takes a Community" to raise awareness and support for this vital community resource.
