MuseBird Cafe W/Volkert Volkersz, JW McClure & Bill Davie
Volkert Volkersz - Singer/songwriter/guitarist - has written more than 30 songs and guitar instrumentals since retiring and moving from Washington State to New Hampshire in 2016. His songs are inspired by the mountains, wildlife and people of his new home in the Granite State, as well his memories of the life he left behind in the Pacific Northwest. Volkert spent 39 years in education as both a music teacher and school librarian. He has performed throughout the Puget Sound region of Washington State since 1965, as well as in California, Mexico, Canada and his birthplace, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Volkert now lives in his wifes hometown of Peterborough, and works part-time as the program coordinator of the Dublin Community Center. He also hosts the monthly DubHub Open Stage. He has appeared at the Keene Farmers Market, the Keene Music Festival, Granite Roots Brewery in Troy, the Farm Cafe in Keene, the Depot Cabaret in Hancock and the Open Door Coffeehouse in Hillsborough, and at various other open mikes in the Monadnock region.

Volkert plays 6 and 12-string guitars, harmonica, Irish bouzouki, and other instruments. HIs songs cover topics including gratitude, gun violence, aging, love, peace, nature, and fruit flies. He has recently set poems to music by Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Another new song makes a reference to Henry David Thoreau. Two of his songs, recorded in December 2018 have received radio airplay in New England, and on a nationally syndicated folk show.

JW McClure - Strains of folk, country,
vintage jazz and humor resonate in master singer/songwriter/guitarist JW McClures songs. His performances arc deftly between poetry and punchline, delivered with country-blues fingerpicking arrangements and an ageless voice.

McClures recently released CD Cowboys On The Skyline has received airplay on numerous folk and country radio shows. His song Need a Lazy Woman was a finalist in this years (2011) U.S.A. Songwriting Competition, and his song Blue was a finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA). http://jwmcclure.com/

Bill Davie - has been playing and singing since he was three years old. He began writing songs at age 11. His musical training came from watching
the hands and eyes of those players he admired over the years, beginning
with his Dad and then his sister. He has produced six recordings of his

original songs, five self-published books of poetry, and continues to be an
active writer and performer at clubs, coffee houses, concert halls and festivals in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
"Davie. . .is one of the finest writers, and one of the clearest, cleanest vocalists in
the business . . .songwriting genius."
Chris Lunn - Victory Music Review
With his magical command of the acoustic guitar and a comforting voice that draws you to listen,
Davie continues the grand tradition of American folk singers. He could easily take a seat at the table
with greats like Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, and John Denver too, as Davies ability to
write catchy, memorable songs is matched only by his gifted singing of his often funny and always
thoughtful lyrics.
