Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Dinner 2019
This beloved annual event, originally created and sponsored by Rev. Vern Barnet and CRES has, since 2010, been sponsored by the Heartland Chapter - Alliance of Divine Love and the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council, in cooperation with the interfaith community.

Heartland Chapter  Alliance of Divine Love announces that the 2019 Vern Barnet Interfaith Service Award (so named in 2010 in recognition of the lasting contribution of Rev. Vern Barnet, DMn to our vibrant interfaith community) will be presented to The Peace Pavilion, a non-profit devoted to teaching Peace to all, starting with children.

The slogan of The Peace Pavilion is Building Peace by Creating Peacemakers and they foster that idea with imaginative, interactive activities which focus on more than peace as a simple absence of war  their activities focus, instead, on the four concepts of Peace for Me, Peace for Us, Peace for Everyone, and Peace for the Planet.   Long a presence in the Community of Christ Auditorium, the Peace Pavilion is branching out also to a stand-alone location which provides a larger space for updated, computerized activities, designed to impress their message on todays children.   It is in this space that the 2019 dinner will take place.

Heartland ADL is also pleased to announce that the 2019 dinner will be catered by Evans Catering, LLC, a local minority-owned business which works with nonprofits and community organizations.
Tickets, which include the catered meal, are $18.00 for adults and $12.00 for students (7-12 years); as always, children 6 and under are free.   Tickets go on sale right after Labor Day.

Heartland ADL also chooses a charity each year to receive collection of donations. This year, in consideration of the ambitious undertaking of the new Peace Pavilion location, the chosen charity is The Peace Pavilion.   We invite you to view the plans on the ground at the venue and show your support for this program of Peace.
