RADIUS OF TRANSMISSION: Parts II & III
Radius of Transmission is a multidisciplinary, site-specific exploration of grief in three parts. It translates the strangeness of being-in-grief into new contexts, one that uses live performance, technology and installation to similarly dislodge audience members from normative states of experience.
(objects): Part I is an interactive installation in a storage unit, co-created with artist Robin Salant and members of the community, that explores our need to stay tethered to the loved ones we've lost.
(absent): Part II is a roving, site-specific experience that enters through the ether and over the airwaves. Audiences witness the action--and hear the transmission--from inside their cars and through their car radios. Part II begins with the small audience of twenty cars driving into a field, and it continues as the audience progresses down a dirt road, through city traffic and along Boulder's backroads to the location of Part III.
(abraded): Part III uses dance to translate the strange, halting, dislocating work of grief into a work of movement, one that marks grief as seemingly incompatible with our lives, yet intimately tied to our liveness. Shifting the frame from those gone to those who go on, eight dancers construct ways to still be here/to be still here, as their bodies reverberate in constellation inside the warehouse-turned-theatre.
