Intro to Suspension Workshop with MisterBacon and Lief
Suspension rope bondage shouldn't be a mysterious thing that only a select few rope students have access to. In this day-long workshop, we'll explain the basics of rope suspension so that all students can leave with the confidence to explore suspension on their own.
Some topics covered in this class include:
-Evaluation of harnesses for suspension
-Uplines and upline management
-Bottoming techniques to make suspension more sustainable
-TOPS should know how to tie a non-collapsing single column tie, as well as a chest harness. Hands-involved or hands-free chest harnesses are both fine.
-BOTTOMS should have a good idea of their own risk profile, as well as some experience working on their own body awareness. Prior experience with suspension is not required.
-ALL TYING PARTIES should be able to communicate to their partner about their needs in a clear and non-judgmental way.
-6-8 lengths of rope (I use 8m lengths of 5-6mm jute, but please use whatever material and length makes you most comfortable)
-Suspension gear such as climbing straps, carabiners, rings, etc. We will have limited supplies of these to share, so we encourage people to bring their own.
-Note: Please do not bring mats, as the venue will have them. However, you may want to bring layers, a cushion, or a small blanket. It can get cold when people are tying or being tied, and even sitting on mats all day can be hard for some people.
Saturday, 8/17/19, 11:00am-5:00pm (1 hr. break for lunch).
