Frankie Gavin (De Dannan), and Gerry O'Beirne (Double Bill)

Frankie Gavin hardly needs an introduction to our audience. As a founding member of the seminal De Dannan of course, he is in the Hall of Fame for trad music already. What a fun night this promises to be.

Songwriter Gerry O'Beirne is a master of the six and twelve string and many other instruments. His songshave been recorded by Mary Black, Maura OConnell, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and many others. He has with, Patrick Street, Midnight Well, Andy M. Stewart, Kevin Burke, Andy Irvine, the Waterboys and The Sharon Shannon Band. I love his latest album, Swimming The Horses, a collection of songs and music written on the Dingle Peninsula where he lives and played for us last year during a WGBH tour. Just brill.

The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
