Dogfish Head - Ancient Ales & Ancient Cheese
Join us for a fun evening of tasting some of the worlds best "ancient" brews alongside delicious cheeses. Beer tasting selection below:
Chateau Jiahu The oldest known fermented beverage whoes ingredients were unearthed from a 9000 year old Chinese tomb (ABV 10%)
-Sah'Tea A modern take on a 9th century Finnish beer. This beer has been boiled over white hot river rocks and is flavored with rye, juniper, and black chai tea (ABV 9%)
-Theobroma A celebration of chocolate! Based on the chemical analysis of 3,000 year old pottery fragments found in Honduras, Theobroma is brewed with artisanal Askinosie cocoa, honey, chillies and annatto. (ABV 10%)
-Birra Entrusca Brone Centuries old proof that ancient Italians had a taste for ale. Based on residue from vessels found in 2,800 year old Etruscan tombs, Birra Entrusca is a subtly complex mix of hazelnut flour, pomegranates, Ethiopian myrrh, honey and sasparilla-like gentian root. (ABV 8.5%)
-Midas Touch Somewhere between wine and mead. This Ancient Ale is a sweet, yet dry beer made with ingredients found in 2,700 year old drinking vessels from the tomb of King Midas. (ABV 9%)
