Webcomic Workshop with Sophie Labelle
Sophie Labelle has been drawing Assigned Male, a webcomic about a bunch of sarcastic trans kids, since 2014. The multidisciplinary French Canadian artist from Montreal has since published many books including novels, childrens books and comics that have been translated into a dozen languages. As our Trans Pride Writer in Residence for 2019, Sophie will be hosting a comic strip workshop for people under the trans, non-binary, intersex and gender variant umbrella. Drawing on anecdotes shared by the workshops participants, you will work as a group to create characters and comic strips with Sophie. Sophie will also be on hand to answer questions about her work and will follow the workshop with a book signing with a range of her books available to purchase.
We have reserved 3 first-come-first-served bursary places for those who cannot afford to attend the workshop but would like to. Please email info@marlboroughtheatre.org.uk to request a place.
The Trans Pride Writing Residency is hosted by The Marlborough Theatre in partnership with New Writing South, The Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence at University of Sussex and Trans Pride Brighton and is supported by Arts Council England.
Please note: All ticket sales are final and we do not offer refunds unless an event is cancelled
