Much Ado About Nothing
SHAKESPEARE...GERSHWIN...THE DANCE OF LOVE.PDP, in partnership with RCC Foundation, opens its Summer season with a modern, picnic version of Shakespeares classic romance, Much Ado About Nothing. This silly comedy, set to the great jazz songs of George Gershwin, welcomes everyone to the newest Robeson Community College theatre space, the RCC Atrium. This enclosed tree canopied garden, open to the sky, creates the perfect atmosphere for a play set in an Italian villa garden, allowing actors and audience to interact directly. The twinkle of garden lights under the stars sets the scene for this modern version of the dance of love while enjoying ice cold drinks and fruit plates with the actorsyou can even bring your favorite lawnchair. This production is an acting/workshop residency through a grant from Kiwanis of Robeson Lumberton and Grassroots grant of Robeson County Arts Council through N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Dept. of Natural and Cultural Resources(www.NCArts.org).
Doors open each evening at 6:30pm with a special pre-show of great Gershwin standards performed by some of the regions best singers.
