Far Niente Winery was established in 1885 by John Benson, a forty-niner of the California gold rush and uncle of the famous American impressionist painter, Winslow Homer. In 1979, Gil Nickel purchased the winery and adjacent vineyard and began a three-year restoration of the property. 1982 marked the return of winemaking for Far Niente, with the harvest of the winery's first Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1992, Gil opened a second winery, Dolce, where he produced a single late-harvest white wine in the style of the sweet white wines of Bordeaux like Château d'Yquem. In 2000, Gil released the first wines from yet another venture, Nickel & Nickel, which is devoted to producing only single-vineyard wines.
Please join us as we welcome Larry Maguire, President of Far Niente, as he leads us through a curated selection of wines alongside a special menu by Chef Steven Pelas. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to purchase featured wines at retail pricing.
