Join the Lake Court House Foundation as it honors hometown standouts James Frosythe and Richard Schweitzer when it welcomes Patriot Week 2019 with our annual Patriot Brunch. The Lake Court House Foundation Patriot Brunch is the undisputed highlight of a week dedicated to our military and civilian heroes. This years event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Maki Ballroom of the Historic Lake Court House in downtown Crown Point. In a pair of firsts, the community will gather to honor two highly deserving individuals, both of whom were nominated by the public. An Army veteran and former Crown Point mayor, James Forsythe is the recipient of the 2019 Military Patriot of the Year. Forsythe, who served in World War II and the Korean War, is a member of the Crown Point VFW and American Legion. As part of those memberships, the 94-year-old continues to be involved in veterans events and causes. Richard Schweitzer, a longtime businessman and philanthropist has been named the 2019 Citizen Patriot of the Year. Schweitzer, 87, headed Crown Point-based Superior Petroleum for decades before turning over leadership to his children. A dedicated philanthropist, he has made the community better through consistent donations of both his talents and treasure. The Patriot Brunch is the largest fundraiser supporting the 141-year-old Historic Lake Court House, and will feature entertainment and a silent auction.
