Pre-Conference Workshops: 2019 Trauma Informed Care in Oregon Statewide Conference
As a part of the Trauma Informed Care in Oregon Statewide Conference, Trauma Informed Oregon will be hosting three pre-conference workshops from 9:00am - 12:00pm on Wednesday, October 16th in Sunriver, Oregon.
Foundations of Trauma Informed Care: To understand the benefits of a trauma informed system it is necessary to understand how trauma affects individuals and families. Participants will learn about trauma informed care, the impact of trauma and how trauma affects service users access to services. Participants will begin to identify how service systems, often unknowingly, retraumatize survivors of complex trauma. Participants will also learn the difference between trauma specific services and trauma informed care. Case examples will be used to practice reframing behaviors from a trauma informed lens.
Implementing Trauma Informed Care: This workshop is intended for individuals and organizations who are interested in implementing trauma informed care. A road map for the implementation of trauma informed care and the trauma informed care screening tool will be used to facilitate conversation about successful TIC strategies, barriers and challenges, and ideas and solutions for moving forward in your organizations.
Roots of Resilience: This workshop helps support early childhood professionals to nurture resilience using a trauma-lens. Participants examine trauma, resilience, and how trauma affects children and families. It also offers practical strategies for reflection and application. This workshop meets professional development requirements for Set 2 with the Oregon Registry, and TSPC Standards.
