INTENSIVE: Intro to Body-Positivity (Summer 2019)
From Instagram, to Twitter, to Dove Real Beauty ads, we keep hearing the term, body-positive. So what does it mean and why is it important? This course will give you an understanding of what body-positivity is (and what it isn't) and why it is essential to our healing, empowerment, and liberation. We will break down what influences body image, help you identify body shame in your own life and acknowledge ways it may negatively impact the way you show up in the world.
You'll be given helpful tools to support you as you begin to develop a new understanding of your body and its worth. This course will also be specifically catered to individuals who currently do or will be doing burlesque. We will discuss the unique ways body shame can manifest itself in a body centered art form, and the importance of self-kindness and body-acceptance within our work & community.
