Out at School
OUT AT SCHOOL is a verbatim theatre piece based on interviews conducted with Ontario LGBTQ families about their experiences in schools.  To date, our team of artist researchers has completed 37 interviews with families living in four different cities in Ontario and the suburbs and rural communities that surround them.  The interviews are available at www.lgbtqfamiliesspeakout.ca  The piece created Gailey Road for Toronto Pride 2019 contains 22 scenes of verbatim monologues and dialogues, a set of visual images to accompany the scenes, and three original songs which draw on a number of themes embedded in the monologues.  In each verbatim monologue and dialogue, the words of the people who were interviewed have been transcribed, edited, arranged, and re-contextualized so they can be performed on stage.
