Titus MRF Tour 9-10:30 (space is limited) 6625 Stanford Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90001
Workshop 11-4 (includes networking lunch 12-1) City of Lynwood - Bateman Hall 11331 Ernestine Avenue Lynwood, CA 90262
A lot of plastic packaging is a problem in our discard stream. Markets have tightened as a result of China's National Sword policy and we are short of domestic markets for some plastic resins.
The Local Agency Technical Council and Global Recycling Council of the California Resource Recovery Association are sponsoring a workshop series along with the Solid Waste Association of North America, the California Refuse Recycling Council and the Southern California Waste Management Forum addressing problem plastics markets.
The first workshop held in March 2019 was a call to action. This June 2019 workshop will focus on the local solutions that communities, haulers, processors and manufacturers can implement.
A statewide policy workshop is planned for September 2019.
Workshop Panels Processors and Manufacturers What is a secondary MRF? What commodities are marketable?
What materials can be marketed locally? What are the issues for California manufacturers?
Local Communities and Service Providers What are local communities and local haulers doing to educate customers about contamination and wishcycling?
What public policy tools (bans, incentives) can local communities use to reduce the impacts of plastic pollution?
Non-Government Organizations What are advocacy organizations doing to support businesses and local communities?
