Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company presents its 33rd Season
Known for its striking beauty, laugh-out-loud humor, and thought-provoking imagery (Broad Street Review), From the Feminine Gaze is Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Companys newest creation choreographed and conceived by Artistic Director, Anne-Marie Mulgrew. This multimedia production is a collection of dances and films celebrating power, grace and whimsy inspired by the 100th Anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment and current events. It features seven professionally-trained Company dancers, inventive choreography, and music ranging from contemporary to classical.
Premieres include Skirting, a company work set to Steve Reich; Zikr: The Time Before, a quintet to Armand Amar; In the Spirit of to Astor Piazzolla, What, (a solo) to Bach; and Quiet Power, a solo, to music by Ramin Djawadi. The program includes a re-imagining of One Minute Dances, featuring 16 one-minute dances for small spaces set to ambient electronic soundscapes as well as classical and contemporary music. Rounding out the program will be new and repertory films by video artists Carmella Vassor-Johnson and Francesca Costanza and a guest appearance by Ashley Searles and Colin Murray in Asya Zlatinas duet Neptune.
