Brian Copeland Presents THE BEST OF SAN FRANCISCO SOLO SERIES 2019-2020 Season
Brian Copeland returns to the Carnegie Lecture Hall at the main San Leandro Library with the fifth season of his popular BEST OF SAN FRANCISCO SOLO SERIES.
This SUBSCRIPTION ONLY series features three performances each of eight on San Francisco's biggest solo plays performed by the Bay Areas most celebrated performers.

GRANDMA & ME (October 11-13)
Brian Copeland (NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN, THE WAITING PERIOD)opens the season with his highly anticipated new play on single parenting in two generations; 1980 when his grandmother took on five kids after the death of his mother and 2001 when as a newly divorced father he has to raise three of his own.
SEMI-FAMOUS (November 1-3) Don Reed (EAST 14TH STREET) returns with his ruminations on the famous...and infamous people who've crossed his path during his years in show business.

In this hilarious and heartwarming prequel to his hit show "Not a Genuine Black Man," beloved actor-playwright Brian Copeland recounts two memorable weeks in his youth when he took to the "mean streets" of Oakland to buy his mom the perfect Christmas gift. Rife with references to 1970s Oakland, "The Jewelry Box" follows six-year-old Brian's adventures as he scours the help-wanted ads, applies for jobs and collects bottles, inching his way toward the coveted present, a jewelry box at the Hegenberger White Front store.

In this show, he uses his full box of tricks, including many of his comedy routines, as metaphors and direct examples of the elements that comprise happiness.
Frank's credits include "The Tonight Show," "America's Got Talent," "Ellen," HBO's "Just For Laughs," and over 70 other television appearances. He's played Lincoln Center and is also a Helen Hayes Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor in a touring production.
