The Physiology of Addiction:
Effects of Drug-Taking Behavior on the Brain.
Dr. Potee will provide an overview of how substances and addictive behaviors impact the brain and how the brain is injured by prolonged exposure to these substances and behaviors. She will focus on the three predisposing factors that put individuals at risk for addiction: genetics, early exposure during brain development and history of childhood trauma. This talk addresses how many different substances impact adolescent brain development, including opioids, marijuana, alcohol, vaping, and cocaine. (This lecture is worth 1 CEU.)
The dinner menu will be as follows:

_________ Coconut White Fish (panko and coconut dusted scrod with a citrus cream sauce)

_________ Gluten-free Grilled Marinated Zucchini (served on a bed of spinach and quinoa, with roasted red peppers and goat cheese)
Dessert: Platters at each table consisting of Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Cheesecake, Mousse, Cannolis and Candy
Price: $55 per person (this covers Dr. Potees lecture as well as dinner)
