Gan Riki
Jewish Circle Theatre is proud to present Gan Riki by the internationally praised, award-winning Israeli author David Grossman. The play is directed by Ofra Daniel with associate director Ifat Orgad. Gan Riki is performed by Bama Ivrit Ensemble in Hebrew with English supertitles. Gan Riki recounts what happened on two pre-school days in the lives of 9 four-year-olds. In the playground they fall in love, play with passion, crown and depose rulers as they battle for control, imitating the power struggles, ethnic tensions, emotional and physical issues and fears of adults. The cast of this clever, creative and dynamic play includes 9 adults, members of Bama Ivrit Ensemble, who embody the preschoolers through and through. They will make you laugh, cry and fill you with heartfelt memories and better understanding of those poignant early childhood years.
Come watch adults in play mode, full of vitality, passion, creativity and thirst for life! This play is a mature observation of childhood that is suitable for children 10 and over. Bring your kids to watch this extraordinary mirror of the intense world of young children and their play, presented in Hebrew!. Gan Riki poses a question for us to contemplate: Have we mastered the essential lessons of kindergarten?
