Pursuing the New Erotic
What is erotic writing? Some people hate the term, it is too flowery or over-the-top. But really, what is it, or what could it be? Is it Harlequin romance? 50 Shades of Grey? Good ole Anais Nin and Henry Miller? An Austere Lorde treatise? Is it a tongue-in-cheek arthouse screenplay like Deep Throat? What is it, especially now, in 2019, post- Women's March and #MeToo, the legalization of gay marriage  and the fight for the recognition or trans folx and folx outside the gender binary? Come and enjoy the recent Best Women's Erotica of the Year series by Rachel Kramer Bussell (of the Village Voice). We'll consider the new bestselling erotic choose-your-own-adventure novel, Night Shift, by porn star Joanna Angel, set right here in South Florida. There is much to prompt us in the new anthology, All We Know of Pleasure, edited by University of Tampas Enid Shomer. Let's delve into Troubling the Line: Trans and Genderqueer Poetry and Poetics by TC Tolbert and Tim Trace Peterson. We'll look to these works and more as we explore what erotic writing can be be. Whether you're just edu-titilated by the subject; you want to publish fiction, poetry or personal essays dealing with sex and sensuality; or you simply want to open your private journaling practice to the erotic for life transformation, join us.
