Set in 1885 London, in Mary Barfoot's Secretarial school, this could be a small and gentle tale of suffragettes fighting for women to be heard and acknowledged as equals in society. But just as that struggle has not been confined to that era, neither is this play. Fantastical, extravagant, a tale of what the stakes are for the disadvantaged in this world, Age of Arousal is bold, sexy, thought-provoking, angry, tender and funny.
