What I Did for a Job
"Perhaps the finest example of creating a character much more fascinating than the
script comes from J. Elaine Marcos"
- San Gabriel Valley Tribune

"scene stealer" - Variety

"I PEED!' - @mathewdeguz

In WHAT I DID FOR A JOB, J. Elaine humorously reveals her approach to auditioning for Broadway musicals and shares her unique journey in what it took to create her successful Broadway career.

I had to learn to break the rules in order to be noticed and many of my audition pieces were practically cabaret acts. So, I thought I might as well put them all in a show. says J. Elaine 10 time Broadway Veteran.

J. Elaine was last seen as Alexi Darling" in RENT LIVE! and as a bonus Ms. Marcos will go into some salacious details as to WTF happened that night!

On Broadway, J. Elaine has broken down the casting barriers by re-creating the role of 'Valerie Clark' in A Chorus Line and as  Lily St. Regis in the revival of Annie along side Jane Lynch. She is recognized for her portrayal of Cynthia in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, earning her an Astaire Award Nomination for Excellence in Dance. (or really shooting ping pong balls out her &^%* while she sings)

Additional Broadway credits include being an original cast member in Gettin' the Band Back Together, The Wedding Singer, Flower Drum Song Revival, and in the companies of Sweet Charity, Wonderful Town, and Miss Saigon.

On screen, J. Elaine made her feature film debut in Morning Glory as Lisa Bartlett opposite Rachel McAdams; and went on to appear in St. Vincent with Bill Murray. She also shines on TV appearing in Grace and Frankie, 2 Broke Girls, School of Rock, 30 Rock and Law & Order: SVU You can also recognize her from the documentary Every Little Step.
