Shakespeare's Criminal and Studio 54 Memorial Voyeur Fundraiser
On April 26, 1977, Studio 54 opened in New York City.
On April 27, 2019, Orpheus Productions will hold a wild fundraising party to celebrate the venerable sex-positive, party-positive New York City hangout from the disco era, and honour our new Chamber Opera Shakespeare's Criminal.
Music by Dustin Peters Libretto by Sky Gilbert. Starring Marion Newman, Dion Mazerolle, and Nathaniel Bacon.
Why Shakespeares Criminal and Studio 54?
Shakespeare's Criminal celebrates the eternal bond between gay men and the women who love them. As long as gay men have been looking for sex and romance, their best female friends have been supporting them. Whats that about? What is the special relationship between gay men and their BFFs?
Tickets are $80 and you get a lot of bang for your buck:
DRESS IN YOUR FAVOURITE 70s outfit and dance the night away Studio 54 Style!
Additional evening entertainment by exhibitionistic performers: Hélène Ducharme and Shane MacKinnon
Enjoy disco deserts and our own scandalous balcony area in Factory's Studio theatre!
It will be a fun, sexy, boundary-moving evening, one that will challenge your notions of what a modern opera might be! We cant guarantee Liza Minelli will be there, but who knows? You might meet find yourself straining to view the sexy shenanigans next to our own modern Canadian equivalents!
***Before the show there will be a unique opportunity to hear Dustin Peters and Sky Gilbert speak about their dreams and goals for their new opera in an informal chat with the audience.
