LIBERATION MOVEMENTS OF THE 1970'S!!
Developing Daisy, an original musical by Helen Newman and Stephanie Glickman, is a story of love and coming out. Set primarily in the 1970's, some of the themes resonates with issues alive today, especially the MeToo movement. The 70's was a vibrant and revolutionary decade in which changes were happening fast. Lesbian feminists were often at the forefront of these changes, as they fought both external battles against violence and inequality and internal battles for self-acceptance in a homophobic world. You will experience a variety of musical selections from Developing Daisy which are humorous, tender, and dynamic, and have universal appeal. The program also offers a few songs from the 1981 production of
The Paris Project, an original musical based on the lives of Natalie Barney and Romaine Brooks.
