ShawnMikael(s) in CoHi: "It Was A Very Good Year"
This month, ShawnMikael(s) celebrates its' first anniversary of shows at Studio 1469, the space that was at first difficult to find, but now everyone recognizes as the perfect space to find quality independent improv here in DC.
Throughout the past year, we've hosted stand-ups and storytellers. We've hosted both new and established sketch and improv comedy, troupes that grew out of WIT, the DC Improv, and The Comedy Spot, troupes from Baltimore and Northern Virginia, and even a show that featured legendary UCB mainstays Will Hines and Neil Casey.
This month's show promises to be no less legendary. A fantastic lineup that includes:
Dr. Girlfriend:
Laura Spadanuta Tom Achilles Caroline Pettit Kate Symes.
The Score:
Pete Bergen Joe Uchno Kate Symes Michael McFarland Emlyn McFarland
ShawnMikael(s) is:
Shawn Westfall Mikael Johnson
Our host?
You know her as the slightly tipsy co-host of "The Charlie Visconage Show." The DC Improv scene knows her as one of the most talented "can't-take-your-eyes-off-her" improvisers around. And newborn Pepper Durant knows simply as "mom." She's Taylor Williams-Durant, and not only will she be hosting, she'll also playing in with Mikael and me as part of a threesome. Yep, you heard that right: a threesome. And you all get to watch.
But you can't watch unless you buy a ticket. And you know how that works: we have a limited number of presale tickets at the door; buy them through this link.
And we only can sell a total of 10 (TEN!) at the door. So get yours early and often...
Remember: Studio 1469 is BYOB!: Keep in mind that the space doesn't sell alcohol. However, you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages to the show (provided, of course, you are of legal drinking age and aren't a gargantuan douche).
ShawnMikael(s) merchandise (read: "cool logo-emblazoned t-shirts") will be on sale. $15 each, available in all sizes
The Space: Studio 1469 (http://studio1469.com/), located in the rear of 1469 Harvard Street, is not your normal performance space: one part artist's hideaway, one part "white-box" theater, it's a hidden gem in bustling Columbia Heights. Please note that access isn't available on Harvard Street, but by entering via the alley off 15th Street between Harvard Street and Columbia Road. Once in the alley, walk straight to the end, where you'll find the space. More information. Directions, and a map are available here: http://studio1469.com/directions.
Show up for the improv. Stay for the beer. And to hang out with the adorable Pepper Durant.
