Event

Junah Chung - Viola
Virtuoso Junah Chung plays a program including Works by Hindemith, Kosch, Mozart, Vieuxtemps and Bach.

Concert length: 2 hours

Junah Chung's dynamic and imaginative playing has been featured in recitals in America and internationally in venues from Korea to Iceland. Recent performances include performances of Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in Seoul, and Vaughn Williams' Flos Campi with the Musica Viva  in New York City.  He was the assistant principal violist of the Iceland Symphony and is currently the violist/violinist at The Lion King. He is a sub with American Ballet Theater and has subbed with the NY Philharmonic and the Orchestra of St. Lukes. A passionate chamber music musician, he is the founder (with his wife, the violinist Ragga Petursdottir), of the Greenburgh Chamber Players, and often appears at festivals such as The International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove, The Bright Lights Music Festival in Iceland, and Korea's Daejon Chamber Music Festival. Mr. Chung graduated with a Masters from Juilliard in 1996 where his viola teachers were Lillian Fuchs and William Lincer. He studied chamber music with Joseph Fuchs and Felix Galimir. Mr. Chung is active as a teacher privately and is on the CUNY Graduate Center faculty.

"For a chamber music lover there can be no better place to see and hear a ... quartet than in a small...chamber! The Metropolitan Playhouse in the East Village was the perfect venue." (Times Square Chronicles, December 4, 2012.)

The concert is part of the MUSIC AT METROPOLITAN series. This ongoing series, now in its eighth season, presents a diverse collection of musicians and ensembles in Metropolitan's intimate home, whose acoustics and size are ideally suited to chamber concerts and solo artists' recitals.
