ColorDance
In the northern part of India, the Festival of Color, known as Holi, announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. Inspired by epic stories from the old Hindu religion, this ancient festival includes traditional music and dance, while the highlight is participants throwing multicolored powders into the air... or even smearing them onto each other!
The Holi festival slowly seeped into many other cultures through a scattered Indian diaspora, international travelers, Indian holy men popular in the west, and most importantly the Hare Krishna movement. The feeling of oneness and profound sense of freedom, which are two key takeaways from this festival, have attracted millions of people all over the world.
ColorDance is a unique music festival which adopts the theme of the world famous Hindu Festival of Color and blends it with a spirit of music, dance, bonfire and art. This festival encourages participants to play with colors as a social merriment accompanied by youthful music and dance and tries to create a passionate atmosphere filled with togetherness, spirituality, and love.
Athens, home to thousands of university students from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures, is also a haven for a vibrant contemporary music scene, a community of talented artists, and thousands of music enthusiasts. ColorDance aims to promote local talents and also encourages openness to new ideas. We believe, when everything comes together, it will create such an exhilarating atmosphere that it will become a lifetime experience for all witnesses.
