Macbeth - Shakespeare on the Mount (Woonsocket)
Shakespeare on the Mount is a young adult summer Shakespeare program open to ages thirteen to twenty-one. Independent from, but held in conjunction with the Mount Saint Charles Summer Arts Program, we service students from all over Rhode Island and local Massachusetts communities looking to expand their knowledge of theatre and production. Presenting professional level work, our students come from all Rhode Island counties of the state to enjoy this program

Mission Statement
Shakespeare on the Mount is a summer-stock theater community focused on creating classical theatrical art in a positive and nurturing learning environment for young adults in order to share a passion for the arts with the community at large.
In order to accomplish this mission and these goals for our student artists, Shakespeare on the Mount embraces all performers in an open audition. We are pleased that so many student artists from outside the Mount community have joined our company. Whether Mount student, alum, prospective student, or outside our community, all have an equal opportunity. Everyone is given an equal and ample time to showcase his/her talents and all are welcome to join the company in some manner. Whether on technical crew or in the acting ensemble, each member of the company is treated as having equal weight toward the success of the production.

Our goal is to teach each student what it means to work on a team and creatively manage and solve problems in a work environment. Doing this through an annual theatre production, our students can grow within the company for up to eight years learning and teaching their peers. The collaborative effort of creating a theatrical production teaches management skills and creative problem solving at a high level while still being accessible. I am pleased to note that many company members return to the company after "aging out" to become staff.

This year we are proud to present Macbeth. The show is at a level of professionalism far beyond that of what would be expected of a "youth production". It will be presented in the round at the Mount Saint Charles Bell Tower Theatre in an immersive theatrical experience. Cinematic music plays throughout composed by Ernie Folcarelli known as Portable Jesus. Formerly from Smithfield, Mr. Folcarelli, a Berkley College of Music graduate resides in Brooklyn, NY. His unique compositions lay a backdrop to the superb acting of players from all over RI; Woonsocket, North Smithfield, Cumberland, Lincoln, North Providence, Johnston, Cranston, East Providence, South Kingstown, and Middletown. There are even players from nearby southern Massachusetts.

The company members list credits from Trinity, Second Stage Theatre, Barker Playhouse, RI Stage Ensemble, and beyond. Several of the players are in college at such prestigious programs as Emerson College, Syracuse University, Dean College, and Rhode Island College. They have trained for weeks in special skills just for this production. Some of the highlights are stage combat coordinated by Jason Robert LeClair (an 18 year veteran of combat choreography), makeup designed by LeClair who is also a professional illustrator, and costumes fitting with a very unique modern style - Steampunk. Steampunk is a neo-Victorian genre of art, literature, music, and popular culture that lends itself perfectly to Macbeth. Props and sets are all hand crafted by not only the company but some of the top Steampunk artists in the Nation such as Joey Marsocci (a.k.a. Doctor Grymm).

Again, this is not a "student level" show. Expect the unexpected when you come to see Macbeth. Playing July 11 - 14, and 18 - 21. (7:00 PM Thursday through Saturday, 2:00 PM Sundays). Tickets for the Bell Tower Theatre are $10 general admission, $5 Student and Senior. call (This show is not recommended for audience members under 13 due to violent content)
