Equity and Social Justice: Creating the Political Will to End Homelessness VIII
The Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness has held an annual "Creating the Political Will to End Homelessness" event since 2001. The ITFH has tried to lift the areas of work in collective efforts to end homelessness by teaching and advocating, and continues this effort as a program of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. By using the "Equity and Social Justice Initiative," and by inviting King County Executive Ron Sims to be the morning keynote speaker, the ITFH is seeking to bring better resource and action toward those most adversely impacted by our economic and social systems. We will have a morning panel respond to Ron Sims with questions and ideas to effect this Initiative. Lunch is provided, after which we'll hold 5 workshops that will repeat and 1 workshop -- Homelessness 101 -- offered once. Included in the five repeated workshops are: Renters and Homeowners at-risk; Special populations that include Vets, Vets of color, Immigrants; the Equity and Social Justice report examined; Women and persons-of-color at-risk; What congregations do and can do.
