Lead-Safe Gardening
Lead exposure can cause many health issues for adults and children, so learning more about lead-safe gardening is vital for us all. In older neighborhoods, vintage homes are often surrounded by yards containing lead contaminated soil. Lead can make its way into the soil through paint, leaded gasoline and environmental emissions.
Join Steve Calanog, Federal On-Scene Coordinator, Emergency Response Section, US Environmental Protection Agency for an informative discussion about lead-safe gardening. We will learn about about garden placement strategies, materials and design options, as well as plant selection and other related topics.
