StorySlam Oakland: DRUGS
It's 4/20 - time to tell stories about doing drugs!
StorySlam Oakland is a different kind of storytelling show, where ordinary people win free drinks just for getting up and sharing their true, personal stories. The theme changes every month. This month our show falls on 4/20, so of course the theme is Drugs. Come to tell a story, or just listen and laugh. *Note: not all stories may be funny. Some might be quite serious!
Put your name in the hat if you want to tell a true, 5-minute story about drugs - doing them, avoiding them; the trip and the consequences. Any kind of drug, prescription or otherwise, counts. If your name is called to tell a true story, you'll win a free drink! Sorry, there won't be any free drugs.
StorySlam is a friendly contest. The audience gets to vote on the best open-mic story of the night. While the votes are counted, we'll hear 10-minute stories from our two Featured Storytellers:
- Comedian and storyteller Sir Remy Martin, an Oakland native - Moth-winning storyteller, JP Frary, from Alameda Rules for the open-mic storytellers: No reading or notes allowed. 5 minutes or less. Must be true, and about you. You'll hear a bell to let you know when you must wrap it up.
It's a lively competition, and a fun night for storytellers and listeners alike.
Doors: 6:30 PM Stories begin: 7:00 PM 1 intermission.
General Admission and discount seats are first-come, first served. Reserved seats will be reserved until show starts at 7:00PM. Food and full bar available from Luka's (order at the bar). Order food before 7:00PM. StorySlam is an all-ages show, but there may be mature subject matter and swear words. Parental discretion is advised.
