Black Label Movement at the Ritz
BLM announces our 12th Minnesota and 2nd season TEAMWORK 2.0 at the Ritz Theater in the heart of Nordeast Minneapolis!  We will present a weekend of performances May 10-12, 2019, including a student matinee for the PIM Arts High School. As the season title declares, we again celebrate the numerous collaborations that make any BLM show unique.

This year, Queen Drea returns to share her sound alchemy and create an original composition for the BLM classic "This Bleeding Heart . . . ."

BLM company composer Greg Brosofske will compose his 13th BLM soundscape for Artistic Director Carl Flink's new driving premiere "Morituri te Salutant" ("We about to die, salute you"), which are the words the Roman gladiators spoke before they went into the arena. Light animator Paul Herwig will create live animations for "Morituri" during each performance and costume designer Rhiannon Fiskradatz is building the clothing for the new work.

The season will be completed by Flink's 2012 surreal and quirky work "Canary."

This season features BLM Movers: Hannah Albers, Alexandra Bodnarchuk, Ryan-Olivia McCoy, Sarah McCullough, Mirabai Miller, Rachel Miller, Jessica Teska, Joey Weaver & Cheng Xiong

All performances will be followed by talk-backs with the company, led by Carl.

Pioneer Press reviewer Rob Hubbard writes, Flink's work "exploded with physicality." The BLM movers "were astounding in their execution of Flinks aggressive choreography." St. Paul Pioneer Press, May 5, 2018
