Elements Of
Elements Of is an exploration of the latent emotions in the seemingly mundane. Through dance and live music, Artists By Any Other Name aims to capture the fleeting moment of emotional connection to unexpected elements of art, to better reflect on the experience that is evoked from it.
The program will reflect on the elements of performance art that are often overlooked, as well as moments and interactions that are at times unidentifiable yet poignant. Costumes and props, including mirrors and flashlights, will play with extremes of light, shadows, and reflections. Programmatic themes include abstract expression of the four classical elements in an ancient era.
The concert will also investigate elements of the feminine psyche, with original choreography by five female New York-based choreographers set to contemporary minimalist music by mostly female composers. An assortment of diverse works, styles, stories, and thoughts come across in pieces that depict many interwoven aspects of identity: sometimes working in harmony, sometimes pitted against each other, but always searching for the most complete and true essence.
