Gloria: Lifting the Veil on Vivaldi's Masterpiece
Hear Vivaldi's soaring masterpiece sung as it was originally meant to be performed - by women's voices - but realized in a completely original new way. Vivaldi's Gloria will be performed alongside the story of the women and girls who originally performed Vivaldi's choral works at the Ospedale della Pietà orphanage and music school in 1715 Venice, Italy. Script by Pam McAllister, directed by Scott-Reed.
Cynthia Powell, Artistic Director and conductor; Taisiya Pushkar, harpsichord, and a chamber ensemble of 8 female instrumentalists. With a cast of 3 actors; Christa Scott-Reed Director, script by Pam McAllister.
Saturday, May 4 at 7:30pm, Sunday, May 5 at 4:00pm. All performances are at Holy Apostles, 9th Avenue @ 28th Street, Chelsea, NYC.
