Liberation Logic: Let's stop doing diversity work on the DeathStar
In this 2.5 day workshop, Rebecca Mintz and Aaron Goggans of Insight/Incite Consulting offer a framework of "Liberation Logic." The central goal of this workshop is to offer ideas and tools to community organizers who are working in movements for social, racial, gender, environmental, and economic justice. The workshop seeks to refine and add to the Liberation Logic framework by learning from the experiences, insights, and genius of participants.

Aaron and Rebecca have come together around the core belief that political liberation and spiritual liberation are not only inherently tied together, they might actually be two sides of the same coin. And yet, so often our movement spaces lack spiritual connectedness and our spiritual spaces lack political consciousness. In this workshop, Aaron and Rebecca use experiential exercises to lay out a framework for living in the connection between these two aspects of life, and offer tools for building holistic movements that work for political and spiritual liberation at the same time.

Using the concept of fractals, recently popularized by adrienne maree brown and a central concept in complexity theory, participants will develop practices for working for liberation on four levels of our lives: internal healing, interpersonal relationships, organizational change, and systemic movement building.

Rather than using the logic of domination in our collective theories of change [denial, coercion and vilification], Liberation Logic supports us to use Interdependence, Insight, and Transformation to move us towards freedom. By working in these ways on all four of these levels, organizers can build effective movements grounded in love for ourselves, one another, and the world we are trying to create.

The workshop will run from 2 to 6pm on Friday, and 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. It is important that participants commit to attending the whole training because the workshop depends on continuity and relationships.

We use a radical sliding scale. Price options range from $25 to $500. Once you click the "register button," you will be able to choose the price option that works for you.
