Jesus Hopped The 'A' Train, by Stephen Adly Guirgis
The Long Island Theatre Collective proudly presents: JESUS HOPPED THE 'A' TRAIN, a play by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis. Directed by Kevin Mundy.
Set within the bleak confines of Riker's Island Prison, two inmates inhabit the special, twenty-three hour lockdown wing of protective custody. For just one hour a day, Angel Cruz, a NYC bike messenger awaiting trial for shooting the leader of a religious cult in the ass, and Lucius Jenkins a sociopathic, born-again serial killer awaiting extradition to Florida, are allowed to experience daylight from a pair of adjacent cages on the prison's roof. Starved for human contact, these two unlikely companions embark on a series of profound, hysterical, profanity-packed dialogues that courageously walk the line between drama and comedy.
