Cante Jondo/Deep Song
Cante Jondo/Deep Song performing the soulful, imagistic poetry of Federico García Lorca with music and dance in Spanish and English.
Lorca is often recognized as Spain's most innovative playwright of the 20th Century, but his heart is revealed in his poetry. Selections from his poems of the 1920s & 30s will be interlaced with the story of the wild ride of his extraordinary life. Actors include Liz Vera of San Antonio and the well-known Austin actor/director Mary Alice Carnes, plus Christopher Gonzales and Thomas Quintanilla. Also featuring tango with Monica Caivano, & Gustavo Simplis; Flamenco dancer, Stephanie Keeton. Adapted and directed by Ann Ciccolella.
