Shadow Puppet Workshop

Sean Powers brings his Shadow Puppet show to Piedmont! Sean's Shadows will present a shadow puppet show based on the Chinese Zodiac Animals in the East Wing of The Piedmont Center, 801 Magnolia St., Piedmont, CA. Following the 25 minute show, Sean will have a Workshop on how to make shadow puppets and make a play using storytelling, puppets and music. Everyone in the Workshop will make one or more puppets and practice using them. All materials provided.

Shadow puppetry is an ancient form of story-telling and entertainment using flat articulated cut-out figures (shadow puppets) held between a source of light and a transparent screen or scrim. It is easy to make your own theatre out of a cardboard box!

Sean Powers is an illustrator, musician and story-teller. Nine years ago he discovered shadow puppetry as a medium to combine his talents. He designs and makes both shadow puppets and wooden puppets.
