Dana Neily's Something From Nothing Workshop!
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: Writers of all experience levels are welcome to come to this workshop with nothing but a pen and some paper, and leave with a new piece (or at least a workable draft!). Participants at the beginning of this workshop will write two separate free-writes, and then choose one of them to work on for the rest of the time. We will do exercises for brain-storming, editing, and getting unstuck at different phases of the writing process. All participation is voluntary and you can engage at whatever level you prefer. Come get started writing in a fun environment, or learn new tools for your toolbox the next time you are having trouble with a piece.
15 seats are available for purchase ahead of time and we will be offering limited tickets at the door - guarantee your seat and get your ticket now! Seats purchased at the door will be cash only - please bring exact change. 12 of the online tickets are being offered at the regular rate of $10 and the remaining 3 are being offered at the benefactor rate of $20 to subsidize folks who want to attend but can't afford it. If you would like a subsidized ticket or have any questions, please contact VPP's Executive Director, Shayli Robinson, at vppdirector@gmail.com.
ABOUT DANA: Dana Neily has been going to therapy for five years. In those five years, she has had many passionate discussions about Spider-Man, almost gotten a degree in English and Psychology, and become a spoken word poet who has represented Victoria at 3 national festivals. She has been on the Vic Slam team twice and was the 2017 Victoria representative at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam. She uses her words like spiderwebs to connect themes of queer identity, disability and community. She is currently exploring how you can live a good life with mental illness. You may have caught her recent feature at Tongues of Fire on February 13th!
